Results of the Reporting and Election Conference of the National Basketball Federation of Kazakhstan

In the period from 4 to 8 October 2021, the Reporting and Election Conference of the Republican Public Association "National Basketball Federation" (hereinafter the Conference) was held. This Conference is held once every four years and this year it was held in absentia.

Within the framework of the Conference, the Federation presented a report on the work done for the period from 2017 to 2021. The report is available for download at the link.

Also, elections were held for the leadership of the Federation for the next four years, as a result of which the powers of all its members were extended:

• President - Dimash Gabitovich Dosanov
• Secretary General - Alain Bakitzhantovich Tanatarov
• Vice President - Marat Sagidovich Shakirov
• Vice President - Alimzhan Bagitzhanovich Dyusenov
• Vice President - Chingiz Maratovich Seisekenov

In addition, the composition of the members of the Federation, the Executive Committee and the Audit Commission until 2025 was approved.

On the eve of the start of the Conference, an online meeting was held under the chairmanship of the President of the Federation Dimash Gabitovich Dosanov, during which he focused on the key achievements and urgent problems in the development of domestic basketball.

"The season 2021-2022 is marked by positive news, the Federation has carried out work to organize broadcasts of the National Championship on the Insport TV channel. This is a big breakthrough and in the future the opportunity to use television broadcasting for commercial purposes for Clubs, and of course to popularize basketball in the country. The Sports Development Fund provided assistance to the Federation in the form of purchasing equipment and a platform for holding the 3x3 championships of the Republic. Qualifying games for the 2023 World Cup will start in November this year, where Kazakhstan has good chances, thanks to a successful draw. The U18 national team pleased with the historical results for the first time making their way to the 1/8 of the 3x3 World Championship.

At the same time, there are difficulties that need to be mentioned. The COVID-19 pandemic has made adjustments to the work of the Federation and, in general, influenced the development of sports. In this regard, the dates and format of the Conference were postponed. State resources were directed to fight infection, which partly affected the financing of sports. In addition, a decision was made to redistribute funds allocated for the maintenance of professional clubs in favor of the development of mass sports and the development of children's sections. Taken together, these measures have led to a reduction in the budgets of professional clubs and the development of limits on the budgets of clubs and salaries of professional athletes."
