The state Public Association the "National Basketball Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan" (NBF of the RoK) organizes basketball tournaments in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The NBF of the RoK incorporates the sports organizations of Nur-Sultan, Almaty, Shymkent and the 14 regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The NBF of the Republic of Kazakhstan represents the interests of Kazakhstan basketball in the International Basketball Federation FIBA.

The NBF of the RoK performs the following line of work:

• The organization and management of championships, primaries, cup tournaments and other official sporting events, as well as international basketball tournaments in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
• The organization of work on establishing, developing and coordinating professional, amateur, children and youth basketball.
• The improvement of the training system for highly qualified athletes, as well as the training of athletes, and selection of players for National teams.
• Ensuring the preparation and participation of national teams and club teams of the Republic of Kazakhstan in international tournaments.
• The organization of public outreach and promoting basketball amongst the population, working on improving the physical fitness of children and adolescents.
