Kazakhstan has risen in the ranking of the FIBA 3x3 after the "unfreezing"

On April 1, 2021, the International Basketball Federation 3x3 unfrozen the official rating, which was frozen exactly a year ago in connection with the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The main achievement of Kazakhstan after the unfreezing of the rating was the leadership of the National team in the Youth U-18 category, leaving the Russian team in second place. In the general world rating as of April 1, Kazakhstan ranks 32nd, having risen from 35th place, and in the regional ranking we occupy 8th place.

Below is the current ranking of Kazakhstan across all categories:
  • Men 18+: World - 36 / Asia - 7
  • Women 18+: World - 31 / Asia - 10
  • Men U-23: World 19 / Asia 5
  • Women U-23: World 33 / Asia 11
  • Boys U-18: World - 1 / Asia - 1
  • Girls U-18: World - 22 / Asia - 7
After defrosting, the rating will be calculated according to the following scheme:
  • From April 1, 2021 to September 30, 2021, the ranking points earned in the last 12 months will be used, and the points earned before the April 1, 2020 freeze will also be temporarily used.
  • From October 1, 2021, the rating will be calculated as usual for the last 12 months.
The FIBA 3x3 rating is a key component of the 3x3 basketball system. Federations gain the right to compete in national teams such as the World Cup or Asia Cup based on federation rankings, and teams get privileged access to professional tournaments based on team rankings. The FIBA 3x3 ranking is based on the top nine players' performance in the last 12 months.

Recall that in 2021, 3x3 basketball will make its debut at the Olympic Games in Tokyo and the Kazakhstan men's national basketball team 3x3 will compete for a ticket to the Olympics.
