Results of the performance of the national basketball team of Kazakhstan 3x3 at the Third summer youth Olympic games

In the capital of Argentina, in Buenos Aires ended the Third summer youth Olympic games in which took part the national basketball team of Kazakhstan.
In addition to the national team of Kazakhstan, 19 teams took part in the championship among young people – Andorra, Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Venezuela, Georgia, Jordan, Italy, Kyrgyzstan, China, Latvia, Mongolia, New Zealand, Russia, Slovenia, USA, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Estonia. All teams were divided into four groups of five teams each. According to the results of the draw, held automatically in accordance with the rating of the Federation of FIBA 3x3 of each national Federation for the deadline of September 1, 2018, our guys got into the group "D" together with the teams of Italy, Latvia, Kyrgyzstan and Belgium.
The honor of the country at the last tournament was defended: Anuar Shakirov, Vasily Belozor, Erkanat Kayroshev and Dulat Eshmukhambetov. Since the formed women's youth team was not included in the top 9 teams with the highest rating in this age category, Kazakhstan could not count on the participation of two teams at once.
Our team played the first two games in the group stage on October 10 against the teams of Kyrgyzstan and Belgium. In the first game our guys won a confident victory over the national team of Kyrgyzstan with the score 21:13. However, in the second match of the game day our guys failed to crack a tough nut in the face of the Belgian team, which celebrated the victory with the score 20:9. Thus, according to the results of the first game day, the national team of Kazakhstan is located in third place in the group "D".
After a three-day break and intensive training our team had to meet with the leaders of the group – the Italian team and neighbors from below in the standings – Latvia. For outing of the group in the remaining two matches of the group stage, Kazakhstan needed only victories, but the result of the meeting with the Italians decided the fate of our team ahead of time, the match ended with the score – 12:21. At the end of the group stage, in the final match against Latvia, the guys also failed to win – 19:16.
As a result, teams of Belgium and Italy came out of the group in the quarterfinals. If the Italians immediately flew out of the playoffs after the defeat in the match with Ukrainian streetball players, then the Belgians made their way straight to the final, bypassing the Brazilian national team in the 1/4 finals, and in the semifinals team of Slovenia, where they were defeated by the hosts of the tournament – the Argentines with a score of 15:20. In the match for bronze, the team of Slovenia won, confidently defeating the Ukrainians with a score of 21:13.
As for the tournament among girls, the representatives of the Green continent climbed to the third place of the podium after the victory over the Chinese women. In the drawing for the gold medals and the champion title, the US team left no chances to the French women, defeating them with a score of 4:18.
The next Fourth summer youth Olympic games will be held in 2022, in Senegal's Dakar.
